Dear Department of Education officer
I am very interested in the position of language teacher in the Department of Education (DOE) of Queensland. I hope to apply my language teaching expertise, cross-cultural teaching experience and student support strategies to schools to help students realize their potential. This is also what I learned in Applied Linguistics (TESOL) major at UQ, which has brought me rich experience in English teaching, curriculum design and classroom management, and can give full play to my strengths.
The core goal of the Queensland Department of Education is a fair, excellent, and high-quality education system, and I strongly agree with this goal. In my academic career and teaching practice, I have always been committed to inclusive education and have achieved success through Task Based Learning, TBLT and Communicative Language Teaching are used to enhance students' language proficiency.
In 2020, when I was teaching at an IELTS training institution in China, I taught IELTS Listening and speaking courses. In the face of students with uneven language levels, I designed a teaching scheme that met the professional standards of teachers to ensure classroom fairness and meet different learning needs. I use differentiated teaching to design hierarchical tasks for students at different levels, provide personalized learning support by combining educational technology, and improve students' practical ability through task-based learning. In the end, students' classroom participation and learning motivation have been greatly improved. More than 80% of the students have achieved more than 6.5 points in the IELTS test and can use English more confidently in the real environment.
During the teaching period of Xuerersi, I found that students from different backgrounds had differences in classroom adaptation and learning habits, so I set clear rules and improved classroom participation through positive incentives. At the same time, I combine collaborative learning to let students improve their language expression and team cooperation ability through group cooperation and use formal assessment to collect feedback to ensure personalized adjustment. During my study at UQ, I made an in-depth study of classroom management and inclusive teaching. These theories provided scientific support for my teaching practice, and achieved high recognition and good results in related practice.
In addition, my teaching experience in China and Australia has made me deeply understand the adaptability of non-native English learners in different education systems. Therefore, I am committed to cultivating students' intercultural communication skills and helping them confidently use English in an international environment. At the same time, according to my experience, I will actively promote home school interaction, regularly hold parent meetings, strengthen community cooperation, and jointly support the growth of students.
I am looking forward to joining DOE and providing high-quality language education for students in the school. I am committed to providing fair, excellent and inclusive education to ensure that every student can improve their language skills in a supportive learning environment.
I have attached my resume and look forward to further communication with you. Thank you for your time and consideration and look forward to your reply!
Best Regards,
Hengke Lu
